In his statement, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the death of senior actor Shakeel Ahmed and said that Shakeel was a great name in the world of art and his services will always be remembered.

Born in 1938 in Bhopal, India, Shakeel moved to Pakistan with his family in 1952, where he began his career on the big screen with the 1966 film Hoonhaar, in which he became one of the biggest names in the Pakistani film industry at the time. Got an opportunity to share the screen with Naam Waheed Murad.

The late actor’s original name was Kamal Yusuf, which he changed to Shakil after entering the world of showbiz and the name gained immense popularity within and outside Pakistan.

Abi Memon Abdullah wrote: ‘It is with a heavy heart that I am sharing this news that our beloved Yusuf Kamal Shakeel, who was the pride of the nation, who entertained us for a long time, passed away today.’
