This year, the instructors of the Lithuanian army trained about 2.3 thousand. Soldiers of the armed forces of Ukraine, about 500 in this operation.

The purpose of this mission is to provide basic military knowledge and skills to soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with a focus on tactical operations in populated areas and in the trenches, as well as tactical medical and engineering training, and knowledge and skills are required to be applied and used during contextual training and tactical exercises.

Six months ago, the group that went on a military training mission was formed by ten soldiers from the Division General Stasios Raštikis Lithuanian Military School, five from the General Adolfos Ramanauskas Combat Training Center, two from the training regiment of the Grand Hetman of Lithuania Jonušas Radvilas and a soldier from the Military Medical Service of Dr. Jonas Basanavičius.

During the international operation, Lithuanian soldiers conducted training of Ukrainians, participated in meetings related to improving the quality of training, and also organized and participated in various other events, during which they strengthened relations with partners from the Canadian, UK and Ukrainian armed forces.

During the rotation, instructors from Lithuania and Ukraine introduced soldiers to the “4 GD Training Systems” system complex, it helps soldiers to train more effectively and realistically for battle, and after training – to review the mistakes made and learn from them.

The commander of the training group, Major Kęstutis Čekavičius and the commander of the platoon, senior lieutenant Paulius Rakauskas, participated in the “Interflex” training symposium, where they shared experience and expert evaluation that will help to improve and more efficiently carry out the basic military training of the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the United Kingdom and apply the lessons learned in the Lithuanian army.

The Lithuanian army plans to continue participating in the international mission “Interfex” and the European Union military assistance mission “EUMAM Ukraine”, to contribute to the basic military training of the soldiers of the armed forces of Ukraine. Lithuanian army instructors train Ukrainian soldiers according to approximately 50 different training programs.
