A meeting is expected to be held today, Tuesday, July 23, between representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the eight-union coordination of the health sector, where the latter will be informed of the Prime Minister’s response to the professionals’ demands.
According to what was reported by the Trade Union Coordination, the Prime Minister instructed his Minister of Health to invite the unions to the aforementioned meeting, with the aim of informing them of the government’s response to the responses sent to it by the National Trade Union Coordination.
The union coordination confirmed that it will attend the meeting scheduled for today, Tuesday, with the Minister of Health to review the government’s response, calling on health workers to continue mobilization.
Anticipation prevails among professionals and citizens, awaiting the outcomes of this meeting, in the hope that a solution will be reached to defuse the tension in the health sector, so that hospitals can return to work after long strikes that have disrupted citizens’ right to access health care.
It is worth noting that the eight-party coordination issued a statement yesterday, Monday, announcing the continuation of the escalation by continuing the strike throughout this week, with a national landing in Rabat.
The health trade unions attributed this step to “the delay in the Prime Minister’s response regarding the responses formulated by the trade union coordination to the government’s proposed measures to implement the points of agreement and the signed minutes in their legal and material aspects.”
The coordination stressed that “the Prime Minister’s disregard for the workers’ fair and legitimate demands increases the intensity of the tension and deepens the suffering of patients and clients from this fabricated crisis in a vital and sensitive social sector, given the high level of discontent and anger among all categories of health workers,” while holding the government “responsible for everything that results from not providing health services to citizens.”
