The man fell 50 meters down a steep, rocky, grassy slope at an altitude of around 1,900 meters. The emergency doctor could only confirm the death of the mountaineer, who had been out with his 17-year-old grandson. The latter was being cared for by the crisis intervention team, the police reported.
The two had set out in the early hours of the morning to undertake a challenging tour in the mountain range. After they had climbed the summit of the Treffauer (2,304 metres), the accident occurred on the descent to the south-west side of the Tuxeck.
