Madras High Court Rejects Lawyer’s Bizarre Plea for Brothel Protection, Imposes Fine

The judge was quite upset by this petition and imposed a fine on the lawyer, even asking him to show his degree before rejecting the petition.

Sought Security from the Court

In fact, an FIR was registered against this lawyer who is running a brothel in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari. The petitioner came to the court to get this FIR quashed and requested the judge for security to run the brothel.

Imposed a Fine of 10 Thousand Rupees

Upon hearing the lawyer’s demand, Justice B Pugalanthi’s bench dismissed the petition and expressed considerable anger toward the lawyer. The bench also imposed a fine of 10 thousand rupees on the petitioner lawyer.

The Court Instructed the Bar Council

According to a report by Live Law, the court also instructed the State Bar Council to ensure that members are only enrolled from reputable institutions, and to prohibit enrollment from non-reputable institutions in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and other states.

Justice B Pugalanthi stated that it is the right time for the Bar Council to realize this.
