The OLYMPICS are the largest sporting competition in the world with many different sports participating.
This sporting event has been going on for hundreds of years. Quoting the Encyclopaedia Britannica website, the Olympics is a festival that originated in ancient Greece and was intended for athletes.
In the early 1970s, the Olympics were held in limited numbers, mainly for amateur athletes. However, after the 1980s, it began to open up to professional athletes. Even today, the Olympics are open to all athletes.
In addition, the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896 in Athens, Greece, after the last ancient Olympics were held in 393 AD.
Previously, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, a French Inquisitor, proposed to revive the Olympic sports celebration. This proposal was unanimously approved at the International Congress in Paris.
Eventually, the first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens, Greece. Baron Pierre de Coubertin also played a role in creating the five rings or Olympic symbol that symbolizes the unity of the five continents.
