Prices are determined by the stock market and at this particular moment, the increase in wholesale in Greece is not due to an increase in production costs, as natural gas has not increased. With the legislative regulation that is expected within days, part of the surplus profits of the producers will be recovered through at least two months of taxation of the power generation units that use natural gas.
Electricity: Subsidy for the first 500 kilowatt hours
The August bill subsidy will be given to all residential consumers on floating tariffs.
The exact amount has not been announced, however it is estimated that it will be set up so that the final price per kilowatt hour on the PPC green tariff does not exceed 15 to 16 minutes, from 13.5 minutes that was without subsidy in July.
Particular attention should be paid to consumption, as only the first 500 kilowatt hours will be subsidized. Each additional kilowatt hour will be charged 80% more expensively than in July. Thus, while this month excess consumption is charged 14.3 cents, in August it will cost 21.4 cents, according to the green tariff algorithm.
No subsidies are foreseen for the companies, however they are exempted from the refund of the ETMEAR of the previous years, which is estimated at 400 million euros in total.
