Biography of Simon Bolivar

Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar Palacios Ponte y Blanco was born in the city of Caracas on July 24, 1783, into a family of Creole aristocracy of Basque origin, made up of Colonel Juan Vicente Bolívar y Ponte and Concepción Palacios y Blanco.

He died in Santa Marta, Colombia on December 17, 1830 from tuberculosis, after surviving an attempt on his life. His remains were transported to Venezuela in 1842 and rest today in the National Pantheon.
