Futbolista Jeikel Venegas Faces Legal Action Over Years-Old Private Video Leak

The lawyer of footballer Jeikel Venegas spoke with Teletica.com and assured that the leaked intimate video of the player at the Fello Meza stadium is old, between two and three years.

This was reported by lawyer Wilbert Montenegro following inquiries from this outlet. He also disclosed that they will begin efforts to file a criminal complaint against the person who made the video public on social media.

“As I said, they made an intimate level video among themselves and it was uploaded because the person requested it along those lines, and perhaps that’s where the mistake is, but he never thought that after two or almost three years, this person would upload it to social media. We are talking about a video that is almost two or three years old,” the lawyer stated.

Montenegro explained that the person who uploaded it did so through an anonymous account on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

Additionally, he indicated that they are investigating the case to present the formal complaint to the courts.

“Here begins the investigation; we have to look at social media, what was uploaded, how I know, in what way it was done, so we need a whole IT team to carry out this study.

“Once we have that information duly verified and can corroborate who the person was, rest assured that we will proceed to file the appropriate processes,” he added.

According to the lawyer, the person who leaked the video could face prison sentences, as well as financial fines.

“That carries a prison sentence and obviously has civil consequences; we must quantify the damage caused on a national level in terms of his image both as a person and as a footballer and with the club, which has an incalculable cost,” he asserted.

Finally, he confirmed that indeed Cartaginés will sanction Venegas and that the footballer himself issued a statement together with the club to offer an apology, as he is very affected by tarnishing the reputation of the blanquiazul institution.

“Yes, Club Sport Cartaginés is analyzing a sanction for Jeikel, but he said he never intended to harm the club, let alone, but yes, some type of sanction will be imposed,” he concluded.

Cartaginés will play this Wednesday against San Carlos at the northern team’s alternate venue, Ebal Rodríguez de Guápiles.
