What came before
On July 19, information began to spread in the media and social networks that there was a radiation release in Russia after the accident at the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant. However, there is no official confirmation of this.
In particular, Russian Telegram channels claim that the Rostov NPP allegedly failed to localize an emergency discharge of radioactive water. Because of this, “there is a constant radiation leak.” The Rostov Region authorities claim that the NPP is operating normally, and all reports of breakdowns and leaks are fakes.
The Kremlin also denies the fact of a breakdown at the nuclear power plant. At the same time, power outage schedules were introduced in the southern regions of the Russian Federation and in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Power steering reaction
According to Yusov, information that is distributed on Russian social networks is closely monitored. However, all data requires careful verification.
“Of course, all Ukrainians and you and I are eagerly awaiting good news about what else will burn on the territory of the Russian Federation. But we are checking, monitoring, monitoring. Well, it is clear that the information that is spread from Russian publics – we must be very careful about this and divide it into several orders of magnitude,” Yusov said.
He recalled that Russia is a closed state and that data on man-made problems is often hushed up there. As an example, he recalled Chernobyl and the hushing up of the Chernobyl accident.
“We cannot rule out problems of this order and say today that “this is not so” – there are no grounds for this. They must check. That Putin’s regime can hide the truth from its own citizens, from the international community about some serious problems in the energy sector – yes, it can. This is the nature of dictatorship, but we will find out the truth anyway,” Yusov emphasized.
Let us recall that earlier RBC-Ukraine wrote that there was a failure in the operation of the Rostov nuclear power plant in Russia. This led to power outages in a number of populated areas in Russia, as well as on the occupied Crimean peninsula.
