Liliána Szilágyi has been in Guatemala for more than a year, and after staying in Hungary for eight months, she liquidated everything here and traveled to Mexico. “I got the job, actually it consisted of cleaning for a month. Anything and everything. Which was great, because I have a bit of a cleanliness obsession and a bit of OCD, so I was able to get by really well. I put on the music, and then I flushed the toilet, swept up the leaves, and then cooked and washed, it was great,” explained the 24.hu according to the swimmer, who said that a lot of things started in him.
“For example, on the first day, the thought appeared – from my ego – that ‘well, I was once one of the best in the world at something, and now I’m here scrubbing the toilet, what kind of thing?'” And immediately after that, the inner voice came that but you have to start the new path somewhere, and you have to experience things you haven’t experienced before, and you shouldn’t operate from your ego, but from who you are,” he said.
Later, a clothing brand contacted him to ask if they would like to take photos, so Szilágyi traveled with them for weeks. “Actually, I didn’t do anything special, I did yoga, I connected with people, and I was calm. And I was so very, very surprised at how much I could calm down, that I had just “soaked” myself in this for weeks.” Eventually, she met a yoga community, completed another yoga teacher training, and learned to play the guitar. Szilágyi is now in Hungary, but plans to travel to Mexico again in October.
In 2021, Liliána Szilágyi accused her former Olympian lawyer father, Zoltán Szilágyi, of physical, mental and sexual abuse. Zoltán Szilágyi then filed several complaints against his daughter. Liliána Szilágyi testified in detail about her father in court, but the investigation was closed in December last year, as the police said most of the abuse cases had expired.
