Luis Arráez led San Diego shutout in the capital

Luis Arráez made his presence felt last night in the U.S. capital. The Venezuelan hit his third home run of the current season, in the San Diego Padres’ game against the Washington Nationals. The Californians blanked the capital team 4-0.

Arráez homered in the top of the fifth inning off pitchers DJ Herz. The Venezuelan’s connection traveled 386 feet and had an exit velocity of 95.8 mph.

The infielder’s hit opened the scoring for the Friars, 1-0. The infielder finished 1-5 with a home run, an RBI and another run scored.

The native of San Felipe continues his fight for the batting lead, so in his last games he is batting .321, with nine hits, three runs brought to the plate, one scored, one home run in 28 visits to the batter’s box.

GLEYBER TORRES MADE HER DISAPPEAR

Gleyber Torres started the “Subway Series” in style. The Venezuelan hit his ninth home run of the season yesterday, in the game against the New York Mets.

The Creole’s hit was in the bottom of the second inning against José Quintana’s pitches. The connection traveled at 365 mph and had an exit velocity of 100.4 mph.

With this blast, the Venezuelan gave the Bronx Bombers a 1-0 lead. In the game, the infielder went 1-for-2 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored.

In the last seven games, the Creole has managed to have a wake-up call with the bat, since, in that period, he is batting .350, with one home run, seven hits, two RBIs, two runs scored, in 20 visits to the plate.

YONNY CHIRINOS WAS PLACED ON ASSIGNMENT (BOX)

The Miami Marlins made some roster moves yesterday, and they include a Venezuelan. This is the case of Yonny Chirinos, who was designated for assignment by the Marlins. The native of Zulia made his last start last Monday, in which he lost against the New York Mets. Chirinos has not had his best season in MLB, as he has a record of 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA in six starts with the Marlins in 2024.
