Elvismar Rodríguez confirmed that he will not attend the 2024 Olympic Games

Venezuelan judoka Elvismar Rodríguez will not attend the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games because she did not receive a final decision in time from the International Judo Federation (IJF) regarding her case of non-compliance with anti-doping tests.

It is worth remembering that, after qualifying for the most important Olympic event by being ranked 16th in the world, the Creole had her name crossed off the list after her suspension became known.

However, a statement from the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV) revealed that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) admitted the appeal made by Elvismar Rodríguez, refuting the initial decision of the IJF.

“By accepting the appeal, the CAS made it clear to the International Judo Federation that it must restore Elvismar’s rights earned through these Olympics and reinstate its quota.”reads part of the COV statement.

Despite this, since the CAS decided to correct the points in the ranking, prizes and any other achievements that were removed after June 26, the final decision of the highest body of this discipline is still to be known.

Now, the Creole delegation that will compete in the French capital is reduced to 32 athletes. This is after the injury of Yulimar Rojas and the suspension of the 27-year-old judoka who was going to her third Olympics.
