SYRIZA: Serious incident at the KOES secretariat – Executives left after confrontation with Kasselakis – 2024-07-24 02:08:38

A serious episode occurred during the meeting of the Secretariat of the Central Organizing Committee of SYRIZA, as a result of which 8 executives left, after great tension.

How the tension started – The incendiary statement of Kasselakis

According to information, the episode started when Olga Gerovasili raised the issue of the date of the statutory conference, arguing that it is unethical to hold it on the day when the internal party elections in PASOK will be held. According to the same sources, the same position was taken by the president of the KO of the main opposition party, Sokratis Famellos.

Other officials, such as Yiannis Ragousis, according to the same information, criticized the party’s president Stefanos Kasselakis, saying that it is not possible not to bring up for discussion his proposal for rapid changes in the organizational structure of SYRIZA.

And then Mr. Kasselakis intervened saying: “The decisions on when the conference will take place have been made. Anyone who disagrees can get up and leave. End. I said end.”

After these incendiary reports, pandemonium prevailed at the meeting, with Nikos Pappa reportedly asking Mr. Kasselakis to withdraw. However, the president of SYRIZA insisted on the position he formulated and the style, without retracting.

After that, eight executives who join the 87 who recently criticized the party leadership, walked out of the meeting.
