Re-election was worth it – Ursula von der Leyen among the world’s best-paid politicians

A Mandiner noticed him, that the wanted list of politicians is headed by the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Vong. Vong has been in office since mid-May, but despite his short tenure, he is the world’s highest-paid politician: he takes home $1.6 million a year, not counting bonuses and a full 13th month’s salary.

The silver medal went to the leader of Hong Kong, John Lee – he transfers “only” 695,000 dollars to his account, but in third place is already a European, namely the Prime Minister of Switzerland, Viola Amherd, who earns 530,000 dollars.

Next in line is Joe Biden, according to the signs, the American president may soon say goodbye to his executive salary, but he will definitely take his $400,000 this year. The prime minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, follows him with $390,000, while in sixth place is the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, who cannot be called successful at all, with $367,000.

At this point, there is a slight break in the list, as Ursula von der Leyen is not the head of a country, but the president of the European Commission, for $364,000 – with her current re-election, for many years to come.

The Chancellor of Austria, Karl Nehammer, receives $307,000 for his work, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who also has poor political results in his country, came in ninth place for $292,000. The leader of New Zealand, Christopher Luxon, is tenth with $288,000.
