AADE’s extensive cross-checking and fact-checking of the featured couple’s wedding last week, revealing the extent of the shadow economy behind social ceremonies and events, was a harbinger of what was to come.
As it became known, multi-member crews of AADE poured into large urban centers of the country and carried out extensive checks, from early Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday morningby AADE auditors.
The aim of the business was, among other things, halls, where events with many participants take place (christenings, weddings, club pies, etc.).
Controls were conducted simultaneously in Attica, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Kozani, Lamia, Alexandroupoli and Patraswith the participation of 40 auditors.
The operation was coordinated by the AADE operations chamber in Athens.
In total, 36 controls were performedduring which they were detected tax violations in 22 companies (delinquency rate 61%), while 9 of them were locked for 48 hours.
According to information from the “Peloponnisos” newspaper, tax violations were detected in Patras and in one restaurant was locked, but in halls for the organization of social events there was nothing objectionable, in the few marriages and baptisms that took place.
THE well-known entrepreneur in the area Anna Maria Rogdaki told “Peloponnisos” that it is now clear that, after the extensive control and what was revealed about the marriage of the well-known TV personality, the chain of professions involved in this “market” are in the sights of the AADE.
“These are clearly tax evasion phenomena, but, for me and for the professionals in the field who operate legally, the most important thing is to hit black labor as wellsaid Mrs. Rogdaki. Legitimate professionals and those who regularly pay their taxes and contributions to the state face unequal competition when they face people who do not meet these obligations, added Mrs. Rogdakis.
At the same time, she noted that the customers who hire these services should also become more aware because, as she pointed out, when she informs the bride and groom about the cost including VAT, they get impatient and some leave.
