Last night in Nicosia, at an emotional event to mark the 50th anniversary of the coup in Cyprus and the Turkish invasion and occupation, Kyriakos Mitsotakis was, as the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis pointed out, the first Greek Prime Minister who was present, on the day of the black anniversary.

Erdogan’s new delusion: Let Mitsotakis put Dendias in his place!
The president of Turkey exceeded all limits Recep Tayyip Erdogan who, returning from the occupied territories, where he attended the fiesta for the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, came back with comments against Nikos Dendias.
Speaking to reporters on his return flight to Ankara, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the “occupiers” designation of Nikos Dendias to the Turks “he could not be more insolent” and invited him Kyriakos Mitsotakis to put the Greek minister in his place.
At the same time, he asked to avoid moves that could escalate the tension in Cyprus, meaningfully saying: “complicity in massacres in Israel would serve neither the Greek Cypriots nor Greece”.
According to Erdogan, Turkey will not hesitate to build naval bases or other maritime structures in “Northern Cyprus” if this proves to be “necessary”. “We also have the sea,” he added.
He does not see a resumption of negotiations on the Cyprus issue
The Turkish president asserted that there will be no start of any new negotiation process for the Cyprus issue, without the two sides on the island sitting down and coming out of the talks “as equals”.
“Frankly, we do not see the possibility of starting a new negotiation process in Cyprus without establishing an equation where both sides will sit at the table as equals and leave as equals,” Erdogan told reporters on his return flight.
