Marotta: Inter would like to have a second team – Inter Milan

Inter hope to have a new reserve team in place in time for the start of the 2025-26 season, but must first overcome several “structural” issues, according to club president Beppe Marotta.

Currently, three Serie A teams have B teams competing at Serie C level, namely Juventus Next Gen, launched as Juventus U23 in 2018, as well as Atalanta U23, which launched ahead of the 2023-24 season, and newest addition Milan Futuro, who will play their first season in Serie C in 2024-25.

The U23 teams aim to act as a bridge between the Primavera and the first team.

Inter are hoping to become the fourth Italian club to launch a new U23 team, but will have to wait until next summer to see if the plan can go ahead.

– The second team is a tool that shared federal system. I was at Juventus when the B team was launched. At Inter we have to be careful so that the project can start, but we have some structural deficiencies. We will work with the new owner to fill them and then we hope to be able to start as well, Marotta said.
