MEXICO CITY (EFE).— The Church called on Sunday to respect human life in light of the recent violent events that have occurred in Mexico in recent weeks.
In its Sunday editorial Desde la Fe, the Archdiocese of Mexico recalled cases such as the murder of a cashier during a robbery in Michoacán, the appearance of twenty bodies in a van, the murder of a young man assaulted in the street and the death of a child who was shot while resisting being kidnapped.
“These cases directly affect society. It is not possible to look the other way, because the facts themselves are so outrageous that they force us to speak out,” the Church said.
He regretted that, in his opinion, his neighbor “no longer has the same value,” and criticized that this value has been lost as “our comforts and hunger for money and power continue to grow.”
“It’s not that comforts are bad, on the contrary, but we cannot continue to feed selfishness in the pursuit of success,” he said.
He pointed out that selfishness is fueled by “discarding” policies such as abortion and euthanasia.
“Both situations have something in common, besides the death of a human being that they entail, and that is that getting rid of that human being, whether developing or sick, generates social “well-being,” avoids problems for third parties, and prevents suffering for those who are eliminated,” the Church argued.
He also criticized the fact that, as a society, “we are experiencing the result when human life can be discarded for its desired or undesired condition, for its “worthy” or unworthy nature; it can also be discarded in collective thought when it hinders a plan for enrichment, territorial control, or even for reasons of “personal development.”
In this context, she invited society to reflect on the importance of respecting all life and asked people to stop thinking that issues such as abortion or euthanasia are personal decisions that do not affect people until they are close to them.
He also invited public servants, especially those newly elected, not to promote public policies that, seeking to generate good, end up “generating contempt towards unwanted human beings.”
Finally, he also invited all Catholic faithful to pray and act for respect for human life and for the conversion of all those who have attempted or are in danger of attempting to take human life.
“And to act, offering alternatives, comfort, care and support to all those people in vulnerable situations, so that they can live with dignity, rather than thinking about their own death or that of a third party,” he emphasized.

Prosecutors indicated that on March 24, 2022, Nancy, along with another woman and two other individuals, all alleged members of a criminal group, intercepted the victim and robbed her of money.
In Tenango del Valle
The events occurred in the community of Santa Cruz Pueblo Nuevo, belonging to the municipality of Tenango del Valle. When the personnel of the State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office became aware of these events, this Institution began the corresponding investigation, which allowed to identify the alleged involvement of this woman in said crime.
