Tree fell: 44-year-old injured in toboggan run

Emergency doctors, rescue services, fire brigade and police were deployed on Sunday afternoon following an accident in the municipality of Gramastetten (Urfahr-Umgebung district): According to the police report, a 44-year-old woman was hit by a tree in the toboggan pool that had fallen over in a forest for reasons that are still unknown.

The woman from Altenberg had come to the Rodl – like many other bathers on this hot Sunday – to cool off. She was sitting on a rock in the water with her seven-year-old daughter when, at around 4 p.m., two 15-meter-high ash trees suddenly fell over in the northern forest area.

While the daughter and other bathers were able to get to safety, the 44-year-old was less fortunate: she was hit on the head by branches and was so badly injured that she had to be treated by an emergency doctor and then taken to Med Campus 3. The background to the accident was still the subject of investigations on Sunday evening.
