You can always count on Conor McGregor to provide some post-fight entertainment and a brutal analysis of what went down in the boxing ring, especially when Jake Paul steps inside. Last night (July 20) was no different, as the 36-year-old UFC star ‘The Problem Child’ took aim at his opponent Mike Perry following their clash at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
Perry faced Paul after the YouTuber’s highly anticipated bout against boxing legend Mike Tyson, 58, was postponed until later this year. The 32-year-old from Michigan fell to the canvas three times and took a significant amount of punches before Paul – who entered the ring in a chariot and dressed as a gladiator – won via sixth-round TKO, taking his professional boxing record to 10-1 with his latest victory over yet another former UFC fighter.
‘Big coward’
But according to McGregor, the win was nothing to be proud of. The Irish star began a series of posts on X in which he called Paul the “biggest coward,” pointed out that he was up against a much smaller opponent and even accused him of using performance-enhancing drugs. However, sports fans believe the outspoken fighter was simply saying “what everyone was thinking.” McGregor’s first post read: “Jake Paul is the biggest coward I’ve ever seen in my life. 40 pound weight difference, pumped full of drugs, and he still shits his pants in the ring.”
Mike Perry ‘fired’ from BKFC
“Nakisa, you should take him to Vegas, oh that’s right, you could never do that, the athletic commission tests, real tests, real fights. Cowards. You can never do that! And then challenge a 60-year-old Mike Tyson, fresh off a medical emergency on a flight? I swear, a big barrel of cowardice!” But he wasn’t done yet, as McGregor – who co-owns the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) – ‘fired’ Perry from the BKFC following his defeat. Perry had made a name for himself in the BKFC after leaving the UFC, racking up five major victories.
In another post, McGregor wrote: “Hey Mike, you’re fired and can go do your stinking dirty boxing competition thing, the smell of it alone… good luck. You’re fired. @bareknucklefc.” McGregor explained his decision: “Perry took a pay cut to take that fight btw. It was his wish. Amazing. He won’t be offered a return to the BKFC ring. He can do a few matches in his new dirty boxing thing with his MMA sparring gloves. We wish him the best. Wish granted!”

“He fought a real boxer once and lost!”
It’s quite a turnaround considering McGregor had said he was a “supporter” of Perry ahead of his fight against Paul, who he described as a “little nerd.” Paul, 27, responded by vowing to “humiliate” the entire BKFC by beating their star, which clearly more or less happened… and McGregor isn’t happy about it. He’s not the only one unhappy with the outcome, though, as social media users think he hit the nail on the head with his biting tweets.
One person said of Paul’s win: “He fought a real fighter once, Tommy Fury, and lost. He always picks his opponents carefully and always has an unfair advantage.” Another wrote: “It’s actually sickening, he looked five weight classes bigger. Clear weight advantage with all those punches.” A third added: “The only time he fought someone his age and size was Tommy Fury and he lost LOL.” Paul responded to McGregor’s rant during his press conference after the Perry win, saying: “Conor is on Twitter, he’s on his yacht, but guess where he’s not? In the ring fighting me. The ‘Notorious MMA’ is scared of Jake Paul from Disney Channel.”
