Summer opera in the Amthof: The Amthof becomes a pilgrimage site for opera lovers in August

For opera enthusiasts, the Amthof has become a pilgrimage site in the summer, as the success story began 12 years ago with rarely performed works being newly staged. This year, the ensemble led by baritone Johannes Hanel is presenting the opera “Marco Visconti.”

The 13th Summer Opera at the Amthof features four days, five characters, and a major relationship drama, all set to the beautiful music of Italian bel canto. The music of the “forgotten” opera “Marco Visconti” is exceptional, with magnificent melodies and dramatic moments, while the plot offers love, passion, and suspense until the very end.

This season, the opera ensemble welcomes two new additions: the young American tenor Samuel Robertson and the bass Jens Waldig from Hamburg.

The opera premiere is scheduled for August 8, 2024, with additional dates on Sat., 10 / Tue., 13 / Sat., 17 / Mon., 19 / Wed., 21 / Fri., 23 / Sun., 25 August 2024, each at 8.30 p.m. Additionally, a special opera concert featuring the internationally renowned soprano Regine Hangler, pianist Veronica Maritan, and the ensemble of the summer opera will take place on August 24 as a Gala Concert on the Amthof stage.
