Trump goes for Hispanic votes

WASHINGTON (EFE).— Former Republican President Donald Trump’s campaign to return to the White House announced yesterday the launch of an election ad in Spanish that will be broadcast during the semifinals and final of the Copa America in the United States to persuade the Hispanic vote.

The video, which will be broadcast on Univision, attacks Democratic President Joe Biden, accusing him of having caused food and gasoline prices to skyrocket.

“Biden has failed us, President Trump will not,” the ad says, promising that under the Republican, taxes will be lowered, incomes will rise and housing will be affordable.

Soccer is an increasingly popular sport in the United States due to the increase in the Hispanic population and the signing of Leo Messi by Inter Miami last year.

Biden’s re-election campaign announced last month that it would run campaign ads during games and hold viewing parties in key electoral states with large Hispanic populations, such as Nevada and Arizona.

The Copa América enters its final week with three of the favorites — Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay — and the surprise of the tournament, newcomer Canada, as the four semifinalist teams competing to be in the final in Miami next Sunday.
