Seconds from the end, Hampus Näsström spliced in a cross – and Johnbosco Kalu bumped in 2-2 on the far side.
Deadly own goal
Afterwards, the scorer had a hard time choosing the joy.
– It feels good (to score again) but if it wasn’t the result we were hoping for. Although it was good to come back, says Kalu in Max.
The goal was the 26-year-old’s seventh of the season and all have come in the last seven rounds.
But before that, Häcken looked set to take a planned victory.
At half-time, the visitors led 2-0 – and they opened the scoring with a delicious corner kick.
Short pass to Mikkel Rygaard, heel back to Julius Lindberg and then came the post.
Jonathan Rasheed tried to box it away – but instead the ball bounced off the back of teammate Hampus Näsström, via the post and finally into the goal.
“Bombed it in”
– A variation we practiced yesterday. Actually, we should find further away but I saw that there was a lot of space in the middle – so I bombed it in and hoped it would hit someone, which it did, says Julius Lindberg in Max.
The lead goal came already in the seventh minute and just as many minutes later it was time again. Samme Lindberg played a fellow player instead – Zeidane Inoussa put in 2-0 from distance.
Gustav Engvall started Värnamo’s pickup at the beginning of the second.
Next weekend, Värnamo face Halmstad away from home.
For Häcken, a qualifier for the Conference League awaits against Dudelange on Thursday – that and several other qualifying matches will be broadcast on Sportbladet.
