As the Hellenic Student Association emphasizes in its announcement: “The high performance of recent years in international competitions continued this year as all students distinguished themselves in a difficult and demanding two-day competition” which took place on July 11-22, 2024 with the participation of 108 countries.
Kyriakos Tsourekas, from the Moraiti School won the Gold Medal, while the two Silvers were won by Orestis Lignos from the Hellenic Education Schools and Nektarios Raphael Berkoutakis from the 3rd General Lyceum of Pyrgos.
Finally, the three Bronze Medals were won by Sokratis Iliadis from the Model High School of Anavryton, Ioannis Galamatis from the Experimental School of the University of Thessaloniki and Dionysios Petrakis from the General High School of Kanithou.
The leader of the Greek team was the president of the Hellenic Mathematical Society and Professor Emeritus of the National Technical University of Athens, Anargyros Fellouris, and the vice-leader was Silouanos Brazitikos, Assistant Professor of the University of Crete.
As the Hellenic Mathematical Society notes in its announcement, the students who took part in the Olympiad emerged, as every year, through the Panhellenic Mathematics Competition organized by the Hellenic Mathematical Society since 1934, in the first phase of which 12,000 students participated from all over Hellas.
