On the evening of Sunday July 21, the theater lovers in Patras traveled to the dream world of Cervantes and the hero of Don Quixote, through a performance that “updated” because it is the most beloved multi-text romance of all time.
On the stage of the Municipal Summer Theater of Ritsou Street, the story of the dreamy Knight Don Quixote from Mancha, the companion of Sancho Pancha and his beloved Dulcinea unfolded in the most vivid way, which was brought to life by an extraordinary large troupe.
The performance was directed by Yiannis Bezos with Vladimiros Kyriakides in the role of Don Quixote and was an ode to dreams and at the same time a question about how necessary it is for us to dream and about whether the habit of banality gives us an illusion of happiness.
Cervantes’ “satirical romance reminded the public of man’s great need for that which transcends him.
It is the moment when when the hero testifies to his sensitivity and his great imagination, the others sneer and laugh. Because fantasy and poetry to pass into society always had to pay the price and sometimes very expensive.
The performance was attended by the deputy mayor of Culture Apostolis Aggelis, municipal and apartment officials.
Starring Vladimiros Kyriakidis (Don Quixote), Thanasis Tsaltabasis (Sancho), Nadia Kontogeorgi (Dulcinea), Parthena Horozidou (Maritorna).
With them are Giorgos Hatzis, Stavros Markalas, Eleftheria Kontogeorgi, Christos Poulos – Renesis, Yiannis Varvaresos, Nikita Iliopoulou, Ioanna Anemoyianni.
