GRAMMY-nominated hip-hop musician Blxst has officially released his debut album, I’ll Always Come Find You, via Red Bull Records / EVGLE.
The album, co-produced by Grammy award winner Soundwave, who has previously produced works by Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and Beyonce, contains 20 songs with a total duration of almost 1 hour that weave a cohesive story across four chapters.
Reviving the art of creating a concept album, on his debut album, Blxst builds a cinematic world around a character he created named Birdie, a young man who inherits a luxury car rental business after his father suddenly dies.
Although her focus is always on getting to the destination in front of her, Birdie is always reminded of the life lessons her father taught her as she chauffeurs the many passengers who sit in the back seat.
I’ll Always Come Find You is the soundtrack to Blxst and Birdie’s introspective journey that examines the twists and turns of love and our relationships with others. An album where Blxst searches for his own identity as he looks back on the life he has lived so far.
Demonstrating his multidimensionality as a musician and artist, Blxst combines Los Angeles’ signature R&B sound with a variety of genres, styles and instruments, from reggaeton-style rhythms to house elements.

With the determination to create his dream album, he took inspiration from various musicians who influenced his work.
The musicians who participated in the songs on this album also helped direct the moments in the storyline that was being conveyed.
Offset brings out Birdie’s youthful adventurous side on Risk Taker, while Anderson .Paak warns Birdie not to fall too fast for the temptations of love on the groovy Dance With The Devil.

Then, with Rewind, night turns into morning with Feid & Becky G on a song that showcases cross-cultural collaboration.
Meanwhile, when Birdie was ready to go home, Ty Dolla $ign came with a song that had the potential to achieve platinum certification entitled I Need Your Love, this song also became the main single from the release of Blxst’s debut album.
About the I Need Your Love music video, Blxst said, “I look to Ty$ as a sensei in music. As an LA native, he’s one of the few who takes risks with his sounds and that’s always pushed me to do the same. Having a song like I Need Your Love feels like a complete circle that’s finally pushed me to make something that’s not boxed in to one genre, it’s something that’s on my bucket list.”

Earlier this week, Blxst performed songs from his album I’ll Always Come Find You for the first time live for his fans at the Red Bull On The Record event held in New York.
About his debut album, Blxst shared, “Growing up, I was always a fan of concept albums, like Get Rich or Die Trying, The Carter, and Graduation, which all give us a glimpse into the lives of these characters. In I’ll Always Come Find You, Birdie and I are experiencing the same thing but in different universes. Building this new world was a way for me to tell my own personal story while protecting my privacy. This album can represent anyone’s story, so just sit back and enjoy the ride.”
Throughout the album project, the driver and rental car figures are always presented by the creative director, Amber Park, a figure who also sits in the creative director’s chair for Gunna, Sabrina Carpenter, and Kehlani.
Not only in terms of visuals, but also in terms of the choice of sound effects that can be heard throughout the album, such as slamming car doors, roaring car engines, and the sound of radio broadcasts.
These narrative elements ultimately help bring Birdie’s world to life. Actor LaRoyce Hawkins of the Chicago PD television series is cast as the voice of Birdie’s father.
Additionally, Big E, and rapper E-40 lend their voices as radio hosts on 95.5.
Hip-hop’s favorite hypeman, Fatman Scoop, also provided the voice for Too Many Friday Nights. Meanwhile, a sound bite from the legendary Snoop Dogg also appeared to introduce the dedication hour segment at the end of To The Moon.
While Birdie has the potential to go off the rails, Blxst never strays from the journey that I’ll Always Come Find You takes him on. Everything he hears on this album has a strong intention of showing his multidimensional skills to his listeners.
As Birdie’s journey nears its end, she finds a version she’s never known before. On Ten Summers or Better, the warmth of Kamasi Washington’s grand arrangement complete with a 21-piece orchestra is a sign of brighter days ahead.
Blxst says, “Sometimes we are so focused on our goals that we often get distracted by everything that is happening in the present. There is so much beauty around us that is happening in real time and if we can’t appreciate that then we will never appreciate the special moments.”
The attention to conceptual detail present on this album allows listeners to feel as if they are in Birdie’s car throughout the album.
To celebrate the album’s release, Blxst will be leading a self-driving car convoy around Los Angeles tomorrow. The convoy will head to Supervsn Studios on Slauson Ave to celebrate the album’s release. (Z-1)
