Many PTI leaders including Murad Saeed, Azam Swati declared ad

The Anti-Terrorism Court of Lahore has declared 7 accused including Murad Saeed as accomplices in the case of arson outside Rahat Bakery.

According to a media report, Judge Muhammad Naveed Iqbal of Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore declared 7 accused as advertisers during the hearing of the case.

Azam Khan Swati, Hafiz Farhat, Muhammad Zubair Niazi, Wasiq Qayyum and others are among the other accused who have been declared as informants.

According to the police, the accused have hidden themselves, the Sarwar Road police station has registered a case against the accused.

It should be remembered that after the arrest of Imran Khan from Islamabad High Court premises in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9 last year, there was a nationwide protest by PTI, during which Muslims were killed in Model Town in Lahore on May 9. Apart from the burning of the League (N) office, military, civil and private installations were torched, public and private properties were severely damaged while at least 8 people were killed and 290 injured.

Protesters also stormed the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, and broke a gate of the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

Later, 1,900 people involved in fighting, vandalism and arson were arrested across the country with law enforcement agencies, while cases were also registered against Imran Khan and his party leaders and workers.

On December 21, 2023, the Anti-Terrorism Court granted non-bailable immunity to 51 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Murad Saeed, Hamad Azhar, Farrukh Habib and Ali Amin Gandapur, in the case related to the May 9 Gujranwala Cantt attack and arson. An arrest warrant was issued.

On January 1, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) ordered the confiscation of properties of 51 PTI leaders, including Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar, Farrukh Habib and Ali Amin Gandapur, in the case related to the May 9 Gujranwala Cantt attack and arson. The order was pronounced.
