A CNN report revealed that Donald Trump previously contributed to Kamala Harris’s election campaigns in California between 2011 and 2013.
According to the network, Trump donated a total of $6,000 to Harris’s campaigns for the position of Public Prosecutor during that period.
Trump contributed $5,000 in 2011 and an additional $1,000 in 2013.
State records indicate that Trump also supported another potential rival, California Governor Gavin Newsom, donating $2,500 to Newsom’s gubernatorial campaign in 2009.
Prior to entering the world of politics in 2015, Trump was known for frequently contributing to campaigns of candidates from both political parties.
Trump previously defended his donations, stating: “I give to everybody. When they call, I give. And you know what, when I need something from them following two years, following three years, I call them. They’re there for me.”
Trump downplayed the potential competition in the Presidential election coming in November, despite Harris seeking to gain support within the Democratic Party.
In a phone call with CBS News, Trump stated that even though he will not face Biden in November, he doesn’t believe it would significantly alter the presidential race if he faced his running mate, Harris, instead.
“I think she’s no better than him,” Trump said. “She might be much less efficient.”
Trump maintained that Harris remains closely aligned with the Biden administration’s policies, which he believes are unpopular with Americans.
“The policies will not be different, whether it is him or her who is the candidate,” he explained.
“She was in charge of the border. She was the border czar, and she was the worst. We had the worst border ever,” he added regarding Harris.
