Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the famous footballer from Sweden, has announced his retirement from the game.
According to the report of the British Broadcasting Agency, the 41-year-old famous Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic said to the fans in San Siro yesterday following the last match of the season, “I’m leaving the game, not you.”
Footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic had already said that he would say goodbye to the Italian club.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 511 goals for Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, AC and Inter Milan and won league titles in four countries.
The footballer made his second appearance for AC Milan in 2020 and was instrumental in their title win last season, having previously played for the club in 2011.
But he played just four times and started one match for the Serie A side in that term and suffered injuries following scoring one goal and was out of contract this month.
“I am going through a lot of emotions right now,” he said emotionally.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic said, “When I first came here, you gave me happiness and the last time you came, you gave me love.”
“You welcomed me with open arms, you made me feel at home, I will be a Milanista (AC club) for the rest of my life,” he said emotionally.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has won 34 trophies including 14 league titles since the start of his career.
The only major club trophy he was involved in was the Champions League, with his only European title coming in the form of the 2017 Europa League with Manchester United.
The footballer announced his retirement as Sweden’s top footballer with 62 international goals and 122 appearances.
He quit the national team following Euro 2016 but returned in 2021 for an unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign.
“I used to get scared when journalists asked regarding my future, but now I can accept it, I’m ready,” he told reporters following his announcement.
“That’s what I’ve been doing all my life,” Zlatan Ibrahimovic said. “Football made me a person. It gave me the opportunity to meet people I would never have known otherwise. I’ve traveled the world thanks to soccer. All thanks to football.
Career and achievements
The footballer started his career in his hometown in 1999 and then joined AFC Ajax Football Club in 2002 where he won three league titles.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic won 2 league titles in Italy in 2004 before joining Inter Milan and winning three titles, he also joined Barcelona in 2009.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic spent just one season at the Catalan club and the move was made permanent in 2011.
However, a year later he moved on once more and was signing for Paris Saint-Germain where he scored 113 goals in 122 league appearances and won four Ligue 1 trophies.
In July 2016, he signed for Manchester United on a two-year deal with the Premier League club.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic signed for MLS side La Galaxy in 2018 and spent two seasons in California before returning to AC Milan.
