hollywood moviebarbieProvince to exhibit Punjab It was stopped and some moviegoers are unhappy regarding it, but the exhibition of Barbie is still going on in some areas of Lahore.
It was being said on social media that the Punjab Censor Board has stopped the exhibition of Barbie in Punjab, while a member of the Punjab Censor Board told Independent Urdu on condition of anonymity that the Censor Board the film Barbie was issued NOC for screening in cinemas across the province on July 21, but following a day, the Punjab government stopped the screening of the film.
The said member said: ‘The film didn’t even have dialogues, there were a few words which were names of body parts, they had to be censored, we did it and following that it was given NOC.’
He said that this film was also shown in Lahore on July 21, but following only 45 minutes of the show, the administration of Lahore reached some cinema houses and stopped the show.
He also said that in some areas of Punjab, which are not under the jurisdiction of the Punjab government, the screening of this film is going on, but it may have been stopped now.
This was also confirmed by a woman who went to a cinema and watched the film.
A member of the Censor Board says that the Punjab Censor Board has nothing to do with stopping the screening of the film.
“The news circulating on social media is wrong that we have stopped the film for screening. We censored the things we found objectionable in the film and issued NOC to it.’
On the other hand, the caretaker minister for information and culture of Punjab, Aamir Mir, while talking to Independent Urdu, said: “There is no ban on the film Barbie in Punjab, but the film has been temporarily stopped for screening because It contains some objectionable content which is regarding homosexuality and is not compatible with our culture and it is being objected from various quarters.
He said that the evaluation of the film will be completed soon and the full board of censor board will sit for this work and it is wrong that the film has been sent to Dubai for further editing. The film will be screened in Lahore itself but it will take a few more days now.

Barbie is not the first film that has been banned from screening in Punjab, but earlier last year, the screening of ‘Joyland’ was also stopped in Punjab, which might not be released till now.
On the other hand, the film Barbie has been shown in other provinces and federations of Pakistan.
In this regard, film critic Iqbal Khurshid says: ‘This problem is because we do not have the film industry in its true form. When the film industry does not exist, you will see a gap in the bodies associated with the film and their decisions will be ambiguous.’
According to Iqbal Khurshid: ‘Some analysts say that Barbie has some content regarding homosexuality which is objectionable, but I feel that this is a phase, an objection made to examine the film. Later it will probably be put on display.’
He said: ‘I think it’s such a big film and such a hot topic that most people would do a cut and show it.’
Iqbal says that this film was presented for exhibition in some provinces of the country and not in Punjab, it is a matter of choice.
The film Barbie is being discussed so much in the country that in the provinces where the film is being screened, people are going to watch the film wearing pink clothes and are also promoting it on social media.
So far, Barbie has grossed $194 million, surpassing Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’, according to statistics from Swab site Box Office Mojo.
