Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar assessed that the implementation of the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) might help encourage local economic growth, especially in the Tangerang Regency area.

“GIIAS for Banten Province, especially Tangerang Regency, is strategic and very important, because its work agenda encourages various sectors, not only automotive but also outside the automotive sector,” said Al Muktabar, who attended the opening of GIIAS 2024 at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Thursday, as reported by Between.

According to Al Muktabar, the implementation of GIIAS includes supporting the development of local micro, small and medium enterprises and increasing hotel occupancy around the exhibition venue.

Al Muktabar also stated that so far the automotive sector has been one of the largest contributors to regional income through motor vehicle tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Transfer Fee (BBNKB).

“We hope that with GIIAS, some of us will purchase new vehicles, replace our vehicles, so that this is a trigger for economic growth in Banten Province,” he said.

Al Muktabar conveyed the Banten Provincial Government’s commitment to supporting a green economy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. According to him, the regional government is preparing to face the transition to the use of electrification-based vehicles by taking adjustment steps, including preparing regulations and facilitating the provision of supporting infrastructure.

Electric vehicle charging stations have begun to be available in rest areas, and local governments continue to facilitate and support the development of this infrastructure.

“So, we, the local government, always facilitate and support, because it all leads to the good and welfare of the Banten community,” said Al Muktabar.
