PTI Global Media Cell Member ‘Forcibly Missing’, Family Approaches Court

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) International Media Cell member Ahmed Janjua’s family members said on Saturday that they are working for Ahmed’s recovery. Islamabad High Court I have filed the application.

Ahmad’s family said that the petition filed by lawyer Iman Mazari “requested a hearing today for the recovery of missing PTI International Media Coordinator Ahmed Janjua”.

Ahmed’s wife Farhana Barlas said in the petition that ‘my husband was missing because of his connection with PTI. The court should order the recovery of my husband.

Secretary Interior, Secretary Defense, IG and SHO Model Town Hamak have been made parties in the petition.

Lawyer Iman Mazari said that ‘Ahmed Janjua’s wife has filed a request for his enforced disappearance. We tried our best to start the application today, but since there is no court available on Saturday, it means that if there is a citizen kidnapping on Saturday, there will be no trial. The application will be processed on Monday itself.

Farhana said in a conversation with Independent Urdu that ‘today (Saturday) at four o’clock in the morning, around 25 masked men dressed in plain clothes and black uniforms and armed with weapons entered her husband’s residence at the Defense Housing Authority in Islamabad. Ahmad Janjua was kidnapped and taken away.

He said that these people came at a time when the door cannot be opened immediately. I was performing ablution at the time of adhan when the bell rang. I thought to finish ablution and see who has come, but they broke the door and entered.

‘Before reaching their house, they also went to our neighbour’s house, ringing their house bells. These people took my laptop and mobile phone, while all of Ahmed’s devices including tablets, mobile phones and laptops were taken with them.

According to Farhana: ‘These men took Ahmed from the bedroom. They did not identify themselves or whether they belonged to any department or not.

However, some of them were dressed in black uniforms with ‘No Fear’ written on them. When there’s a home invasion, you don’t remember who was wearing what. These same people also came to my room.’

He further said that his rooms were also searched.

Ahmed is diabetic and hypertensive, he was not even allowed to take his medicine with him. And they were not allowed to wear shoes.

‘They said let me wear shoes,’ he replied, ‘put on open shoes or bathroom slippers and just walk.’ They did not even allow to change their clothes, but took them to a night suit.’

“I realized later what was going to happen because other people have been picked up before,” Ahmed’s wife said.

On the question that ‘did he tell the PTI leadership regarding this incident?’ So Farhana replied ‘How can I tell, I don’t have any contact number.’

According to Farhana, she has submitted an application regarding the abduction of her husband at Islamabad police station Hamak, while Ahmed’s brother-in-law Mazhar Barlas said that the application regarding the abduction of Ahmed has been filed in the Islamabad High Court. ‘

Islamabad Police Spokesperson Sharifullah told Independent Urdu that ‘No application has been made yet regarding the abduction of Ahmed Janjua in Hamak police station. However, the incident has been reported on a phone call.

Talking to Independent Urdu, PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari confirmed the incident and said that ‘Ahmad’s family is scared and worried.

‘Ahmed didn’t want to hide because his parents are quite old, he wanted to stay with the family.’

He added, ‘Because they cannot reach me, my team is being raised so that international reporting is not possible. Apart from Ahmed, three other team members have also been kidnapped this morning.

Zulfi Bukhari alleged that ‘PTI Media cell Five persons associated with it have been kidnapped. They are trying to prevent my team from performing and the international media from reporting.’

Zulfi Bukhari claimed that there has been a severe crackdown on PTI’s social media team in the last two weeks.

“Due to the constant international reporting of all the atrocities in Pakistan, my team is now being kidnapped along with others. The continued violation of basic human rights will not be allowed to continue for much longer.’
