The protest was also attended by women and children, who held placards demanding the recovery of Priya Kumari.
In viral videos on social media, police can be seen using violence and arresting people to end the protests.
Priya Kumari’s father Rajkumar and mother Raveena Kumari, who participated in the protest, demanded that their daughter be recovered as soon as possible.
Later, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Linjar arrived to negotiate with the protesters and met Priya’s parents.
The Home Minister told the parents that he has formed a Joint Investigative Team (JIT) to recover Priya, Priya Kumari is alive and will be recovered soon.
Who is the missing Priya Kumari?
According to Priya’s father Rajkumar, she went missing from Sukkur city on August 19, 2021.
According to him: ‘August 19, 2019 was the tenth day of Muharram and Sukkur In the town of Sangrar, regarding 45 km from the city, I had a sable installed in my retail shop.
‘My nine-year-old daughter Priya Kumari was also giving water to the mourners on Sabil. In the followingnoon I left my daughter at Sibel and went home from some work and when I came back, my daughter Priya was not there.’
Rajkumar said that following that he contacted the villagers and relatives but his daughter might not be traced.

According to Rajkumar, three days following Priya’s disappearance, he registered a case of abduction of his daughter at the Sangrar police station, but despite the passage of almost three years, his daughter might not be recovered.
He said that during these three years there were many protests once morest the disappearance of Priya in different cities of Sindh including Sukkur, Hyderabad and Karachi and several times trends were also run on social networking websites for the recovery of Priya.
Apart from this, the citizens of Sindh living in different countries including America, Canada also raised their voice on various international forums for the recovery of Priya.

“We have been living in Sangrar for the past 30 years. We have no enmity with anyone. For the recovery of my daughter, I have requested the ministers and advisers to recover my daughter soon.’
JIT formed to recover Priya Kumari
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Linjar had constituted a JIT on April 3, 2024 to recover Priya Kumari.
The JIT was headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mirpurkhas Javed Jaskani and was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amjad Shaikh, SSP Tanveer and two Deputy Inspectors of Police DSPs.
The GIT was supposed to submit a report on the girl’s recovery within three weeks, but the report is yet to come.
In this regard, despite calling and sending messages to Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Linjar several times on his mobile phone, there was no response until this news was reported. It will be included in the report when the position of Sindh Interior Minister comes.
