Part of the Formula 1 has already arrived in the renewed paddock of the Hungaroring, the teams have set up their motorhomes, the speeding circus is moving to the Mogyoród track once more. The Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix takes place this weekend. As usual, a press conference was held by Zsolt Gyulay, CEO of the Hungaroring, Zoltán Pafféri, CEO of the main sponsor MÁV Zrt., and CEO of the Herend Porcelánmanufaktúra, dr. Attila Simon. Together, they unveiled the 2024 trophies and revealed the novelties of the Hungaroring.

2024-ben is herendi porcelain– trophies are given to the podium finishers of the race, this was not changed even following last year’s accident, when Lando Norris accidentally broke Max Verstappen’s first place trophy in Herend. The first three winners will receive a hand-made and painted porcelain goblet, the first prize is 53 centimeters high and weighs 3 kilograms, the second and third prizes are slightly smaller.
Regarding its decoration, we can see 19th century peonies in a renewed form, on a beige background with green flowers, tendrils and leaves. The designer bowl has a diameter of 53 centimeters, weighs 4 kilograms, with a lace pattern made with a special breakthrough process on the edge and a special application of the colors of the Hungarian tricolor. The awards also received genuine 18-karat gold plating.

A small interesting thing regarding the broken award in 2023 is that the Herend Porcelánmanufaktúra recreated the Red Bull driver’s trophy completely free of charge within a couple of weeks, and it was also given to Verstappen in Monte-Carlo. Since each one is unique and only one of them was made, they had to make it once more following the race. “We considered it our personal mission that the Herend prize should be at Red Bull, so we recreated it for them completely free of charge,” said Dr. Attila Simon. He also added regarding this year’s competition in 2024: “Whoever will be the winner, it is certain that Herendi will be raised to the highest level.”

The Hungaroring is preparing for the 2024 race with several innovations. Several parts of the track have been renewed, but mainly the service areas and spectator areas have changed. The herringbone parking lot is gone, a covered parking lot has been created behind the main building, the top of which is the new surface parking lot of the paddock, widened by 19 meters, where the pilots can park directly behind the motorhomes. They are prepared for fans once morest the heat with fog gates and water distribution, as well as several activities, for example, they can try changing tires and bungee jumping.
For those who cannot or do not want to arrive by car, there is good news that MÁV Zrt. has created a daily ticket for the duration of the race called Vármegye 24 for HUF 990, which allows you to use any vehicle within a day. In addition, Volán runs a free bus service from Kerepes to the Hungaroring, and on the way back, F1 ticket holders can use the train from Mogyoród to Budapest for free.

The Sunday race will be sold out once more this year, all tickets have already been sold. You can still buy tickets for the free practice and time trial, the renewed Hungaroring has 40,000 more seats this year than last year, so there will definitely be more people taking seats in the stands.
