The Mini Cummins, a sailing cup with lessons for children and young people

The lessons left by the Mini Cummins will be a fundamental part of the personal growth of their young sailors, as was evident on Thursday, on a day of light morning winds that forced the teams to work hard to cover the races.

“It is the best, being able to learn to overcome adversity, they are alone with their sailboats”said the former Olympian Pedro Pablo Silveira Cervera, haranguing, out to sea, the competitors, who, since they were 7 years old, have been trying their hand at Hobie Cat 16.

On Thursday, a hundred sailors of child and youth age set out to sea to complete the second stage of the Mini Cumminsencouraged by their parents and relatives, who were both on the beach at Marina Silcer and at sea, in boats, following the competition.

“It is important to win, yes, because it motivates, but for them, for beginners, the best thing is to learn to sail in these conditions, when the wind is weak, you have to learn to balance the sailboat, to move. And when there are strong winds, the good thing here is to gain courage, based on impetus, forging courage.”added Silveira Cervera, who competed in windsurfing in the 1996 Athens Olympic Games.

On Friday the stage will be set for the competition of those seeking supremacy in the Copa Cummins of older people, among great international sailors, and young people who are making their way, many of whom have emerged from the Mini Cummins. The Cup will be held from Friday to Sunday, award day, in the followingnoon.
