Movies based on video games are booming, and one of the most anticipated is the live-action Minecraft. This film will feature Jason Momoa and Jack Black, but beyond some leaks from the filming set, not much else has been revealed yet.
However, this week Alleged images were leaked concept art from the Minecraft movie that gives us a more detailed look at what some things will look like in the film such as the iconic Creeper, the sheep, and the look of Jack Black as Steve.
The actor is seen posing as Steve with a pixelated pickaxe and wearing Steve’s recognizable outfit. What’s curious regarding this is that Black will be playing the character with a thick beard, which doesn’t quite fit how we know the main character from the game.
As for the Creeper, the Sheep and the Bumblebee, they all have a semi-realistic look, which has caused debate among Minecraft fans regarding whether it looks good or not.
Beyond that, there aren’t many details regarding the film’s plot. However, other actors such as Emma Myers (Merlina, Trapped in the Basement, The Glades), Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple, Orange is the New Black, Mahalia, Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad) and Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Lisey’s Story, Out for Justice) have already been confirmed.
Producers on the project include Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui and the late Jill Messick.
Minecraft is set to release on April 4, 2025, having been supposed to release several years ago in 2019 but has suffered several delays.
