The authorities expect that traffic will be very difficult in both the outbound and return directions during the third weekend of July. Traffic congestion reached its peak today.

As the good weather continues, pleasant summer temperatures are expected across the country over the next few days, especially on Friday and Saturday followingnoons, when July fans will find themselves on the roads heading south and along the coast. Traffic to Italy is also expected to be busy throughout the weekend, adding to the traditional traffic volumes during the summer holiday. As a result, this fourth weekend of summer will see some heavy traffic, especially on Saturday, in the departure direction.

Traffic had been difficult in most areas since Friday morning, and the day was even more congested. Shortly following noon, Bison futé noticed more than 945 kilometers of traffic jams on French roads, with the severity of “abnormal”The slowdown was concentrated in the Mediterranean Arc, where economic growth slowed “special” Traffic conditions in the Bourgogne-Grand Est and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions are also of concern. In Île-de-France, on the contrary, the roads remain calm, although slightly busier than usual. At 5:05 p.m., the curve drops once more: France slows down by 288 kilometers, a level that is falling sharply.

This situation was anticipated by the authorities.. “In the direction of departure, traffic will be very difficult throughout the country all day. Traffic will be very heavy on the roads from Île-de-France to Brittany (N165), the South and Spain (A10 and A63) and the Mediterranean (A6, A7 and A9). Access to Italy via the Mont Blanc Tunnel (N205) will also be very difficult throughout the day. In Île-de-France, traffic will be very heavy at the A6 and A10 motorway toll booths. The first slowdowns on these axes will probably occur in the early hours of the morning. Only towards the middle of the morning will traffic really intensify significantly, which may make movement even more difficult. These difficulties will be at their greatest towards the end of the morning””, told Bison Futé.

“In terms of returns, difficult traffic is expected across the country. It will be very difficult in the northern and western regions and in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region. Difficulties are expected on routes from Spain (A10) and the south of the country (A7, A8 and A9) from the early morning to the evening. At the end of the morning and at the beginning of the followingnoon, traffic from the Normandy, Brittany and Loire regions to Île-de-France (A11, N165) will be very heavy. Access to France from Italy through the Mont Blanc Tunnel (N205) will be very difficult throughout the followingnoon. In Île-de-France, occasional traffic difficulties are expected between the followingnoon and evening (mainly on the A10)”notify the organization.

Improvements are expected on Sunday

This weekend should end much more smoothly. “In terms of departures, the regions that are having difficulty are mainly Ile-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. […] In Île-de-France, some services still run from mid-morning, which may cause some travel difficulties.”, the Bison cleverly pointed out. Therefore, the authorities recommend leaving Ile-de-France before 8 am and avoiding certain routes such as the A6, A75 or N165 from late morning.

In the opposite direction, on the way to Ile-de-France, “Depending on the stretch of road between late followingnoon and late evening, there may be more or less severe traffic difficulties”warning the organization.

Sunday goes smoothly.
