Doctors working in Santara clinics can no longer bear the workload: A. Samuilis is negotiating with the management

LNK reported that the heads of 4 departments and the head of the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Center, Artūras Samuilis, are asking to be dismissed from their jobs at the Santaras clinics, having written a statement to resign from December 20.

According to A.Samuilis, he has been working at the Santaras clinics for nearly 20 years, but this is the first time such thoughts arise seriously.

“The talk is mainly regarding emergency aid and emergency radiology, the workload has increased significantly, the workers are overworked, fatigue is felt”, A. Samuilis told LNK.

According to A.Samuilis, a beginning radiologist does not earn 2 thousand euros.

It is not easy for institutions to attract high-level specialists, their departure would be a great loss, and the most difficult patients come to the clinics.

Gabija Tomkutė, chairwoman of the trade union of Santara clinics, said that even the workload and finances are forcing specialists to leave.

“We have to realize that in a field like medicine, psychological violence is very widespread, and burnout,” said G. Tomkutė.

There is also talk of possible mobbing.

“I cannot speak for other centers, but I have heard that people face similar situations,” said A.Samuilis.

According to A.Samuilis, intense negotiations are currently taking place with the administration on how to move forward, since it is also regarding the entire team of A.Samuilis – 150 employees.

Santara Clinics replied that there are currently talks between the administration and the Radiology Center. As long as there is no final solution – suitable for both parties – Santara clinics refrain from commenting.
