BarcelonaThe scientist and popularizer Marc Boada passed away this Wednesday at the age of 60. Born in Terrassa, Boada was known, among many other things, for having been the host of the scientific program Quéquicomfrom TV3 and Channel 33, between 2008 and 2011. His relationship with the broadcasting space began earlier because he had been advising the programme’s team since 2006.
Boada was a multifaceted person. He studied industrial drawing at the Salesianos school in Terrassa from 1978 to 1981, and until 1984 he studied sculpture at the School of Applied Arts in the same city, under the direction of Ferran Bach-Esteve. He stood out for his sculptural work, which can be visited in the Garden of Perceptions in the Vallparadís Park in Terrassa.
In 1986 he founded the company Lambda Opto-mechanics, where he built instruments for optical research and astronomical telescopes until 1992. He then founded and directed Péndulum Museografía Interactiva for more than 15 years (1993-2010) through which he worked on various museum projects. In 2014 he created the association Pèndulum for the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
In parallel to his professional activity, he devoted himself to research and exploration in the fields of geology, archaeology and paleontology. He located more than 30 dinosaur sites.
