The interview of the Minister of State, Makis Voridis, on the SKAI TV station covered a wide range of topics.
However, as he clarified at the beginning of the interview, issues that concern the public debate, in the government “do not concern either… five minutes, nor… a break”, when, in fact, “you have a daily flow of issues, which are critical and important”.
In fact, he brought examples of issues that do not concern the Maximos Palace: The face of the next President of the Republic, or “the issues, e.g. of a book launch event attended by two former prime ministers. What was said was said, it was commented on as much as it was commented on”, said the Minister of State, with the simultaneous observation that the Prime Minister said, in his interview, the self-evident, that is, when you have a party of 41%, there are also different sensitivities on some issues . Regarding the issue of electricity pricing and emergency measures, following referring the specialization of the measures to the co-competent ministries and DEDDIE, Mr. Voridis assured that “the emergency taxation will be used to support households”. “It is completely different a permanent tax measure of 90% on business profits than an extraordinary, special, temporary, short-term taxation to deal with a specific phenomenon. These are different types of tax policies”, he insisted and clarified that “if the market were left free, this would mean that households would pay 200%-250% on electricity. This in turn would lead to a decrease in demand, so people would not have air conditioning in the summer. We don’t want to do that.”
In any case, he added, “the prime minister does not have a dogmatic approach to them. While the general direction is in favor of the free market, in favor of businesses”, but, “when, however, distortions begin to exist, then the state intervenes”.
In another topic of current affairs, that of the verbal episode, by SYRIZA MP Pavlos Polakis at the expense of the secretary of the ND, Maria Syregela, the Minister of State stated that “it particularly bothers us because it is directed towards a woman, so there is the well-known rudeness and toxicity of Mr. Polakis is getting worse, it’s more annoying.”
“We did not fall from the clouds for Mr. Polakis, this is the situation Polakis, he did not ask for any apology”, he added and then turned his criticism towards the official opposition leader, Stefanos Kasselakis.
Although, as he said, the apology from Mr. Kasselakis was appreciable, he emphasized that it ultimately confuses him (the apology) and this because “if he understands it as a mistake”, overall for the area he represents, then why “nothing is happening” to SYRIZA? he wondered. “Neither an observation nor a rebuke was made to Mr. Polakis,” he found.
To the main opposition’s counter-argument that neither the government had reacted to the statements of the ND MP for Drama, Dimitris Kyriazidis, once morest Stefanos Kasselakis, the minister countered that the blue MP “immediately clarified the issue”, which means that “individually he took responsibility, something we don’t have in Mr. Polakis.”

Asked to comment on the position formulated by the president of SYRIZA-PS yesterday, Tuesday, July 16, at the Political Secretariat of his party on black funds, Mr. Voridis chose, instead of another comment, to make a general statement: “It does not seem to me it is a normal thing that there are people who lead parties and who do not have the slightest parliamentary experience. This works out, I’m not saying this theoretically. For me, this has an institutional value.” “In the Parliament, the political discourse shapes the politician, his character, his attitude. That we have ended up constantly discussing extra-parliamentary party leaders, that is an issue,” concluded the Minister of State.
