To the chants of “Mbappé, Mbappé,” the striker made his way across the pitch until he reached Florentino, who dedicated some warm words to him. He recalled when, as a child, Zidane invited him to Valdebebas; as well as all the achievements throughout his career. “Kylian, welcome to your home, welcome to Real Madrid,” concluded the president before giving the striker the floor.
Speaking in perfect Spanish, he took his turn to speak: “Wow, it’s incredible to be here. For many years it has been a dream to play for Real Madrid and today it has come true. I am a very happy boy. I want to thank the president for the confidence in me from the first day. We have been through a lot, but I want to say thank you.” And he added: “Thank you to all the Real Madrid fans because for many years they have shown me a lot of affection and that is why I want to thank them for being here today. I want to fulfil another dream, that of living up to the history of this club. I am going to give my life for this club and this badge.”
“I am here today to be one of you. I am very excited today, I talk a lot but it means a lot to me today, it means a lot to be in the club of my dreams and in the biggest club in history,” he said.
Amidst interruptions from fans shouting “Mbappé, Mbappé” and requests for him to kiss the crest, he concluded in true Cristiano Ronaldo style: “One, two, three, Hala Madrid.”
