But when tonight’s EC final came up, Carlos Alcaraz was first booed by the crowd.
– We’ll see who wins…, he says.
Tonight, England can win their first ever European Championship gold and as a warm-up for the final once morest Spain, the football-mad country might enjoy a hyped Wimbledon final for the first time.
It was a one-sided story.
The 21-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz overcame 24-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic, 37, winning in three straight sets.
Started booing
Afterwards, he received the trophy from Princess Kate while the audience gave him a standing ovation, but in the middle of the victory interview, a hostile atmosphere arose.

– Should we even mention the EC final?, asked Annabel Croft, who did the interview, whereupon the burope took off immediately.
“Done my…”
Alcaraz was diplomatic in his response:
– I will watch the match with my team. I’ve done my part, now it’s up to them (Spain national football team)…
– It will be a tough match. We’ll see who wins.
The EC final between Spain and England starts at 21:00.
