Ministry of Health regulates work hours and working days for doctors

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Health has regulated the work hours and working days for medical professionals with permanent and/or contracted positions, who perform care or mission functions in health services dependent on the health portfolio.

Through Resolution No. 2,679/24, the Minister of Health, María Teresa Barán, ordered the regulation of the workload and working hours for medical professionals.

The document mentions, among other points, that the doctor with a permanent position will work 12 hours a week for each employment relationship.

In turn, those contracted with a specialty in anesthesiology, critical medicine, intensive care, intensive therapy, pediatrics, and neonatology, who perform functions in services for adults, pediatrics or neonatology, will fulfill a workload of 12 hours per week.

Likewise, the contracted medical professional whose seniority with the Ministry of Health is equal to or greater than five years will fulfill a workload of 12 hours per week for each link.

In the case of professionals with less than five years’ seniority or who are hired from the date, they will have the following workload: first link (24 hours per week) second and third link (12 hours per week).

Likewise, a doctor with a contractual relationship with a workload of 36 hours per week (equivalent to two contracts), with a seniority greater than or equal to five years, will comply with the workload of 24 hours per week.

In this order, the medical professional linked to the Primary Health Care Strategy will fulfill the workload of 36 hours per week, in the modalities established in the current functions manual.
