By 2025, Venezuela will be performing contactless operations

The president of the Venezuelan Banking Association, Pedro Pacheco, indicated that something transcendental is taking place, comparable to the first industrial revolution in relation to the technological advances that affect banking.

In an interview with Eduardo Rodriguez in the program On time of Union Radiocommented that: ““It is a truly extraordinary moment that involves issues of ethics and regulation.”

“And there the bank has a fundamental role, it has been making strong progress in issues where we are lagging behind, such as contactless, “This means making contact without using a point of sale to pay. You take your cell phone, put your card near it and the transaction is executed. This is convenience for the customer and more competitive,” he said.

Pacheco said that the Superintendency of Banks issued a regulation to establish in Venezuela “the opening of a digital account, the electronic signature and a biometric or facial recognition contract.”

It is estimated that by the end of the year, 70% of point-of-sale operations can be done through contactless “and in the first quarter of 2025, 100% will be reached.”

“It is an important step forward, we would be on par with other countries and we must continue working in this direction,” he concluded.
