Peace mission
“All EU heads of state and government have received the Orbán plan on how to end the war in Ukraine.” In it, the Prime Minister summarised the experiences of the first phase of his peace mission in order to define realistic goals based on a real assessment of the situation.
This was said by the Prime Minister’s political director, his namesake Balázs Orbán, in an interview for the pro-government daily newspaper “Magyar Nemzet”. The fact that Hungary was able to arrange these meetings (in Kiev, Moscow, Susa, Beijing and Florida) alone shows its role in freeing this conflict from the stalemate. According to Hungarian assessments, the USA, the EU, China and Turkey are suitable mediators between the warring parties.
“China and Turkey are in favour of peace, as is Donald Trump, who will bring peace as soon as he returns to the White House as president,” said Balázs Orbán, adding that the current EU leadership, like the Americans, wants to continue the war. Unfortunately, European politics today is completely meaningless, “the strategic autonomy of the Europeans is nothing but a myth in this matter.” The EU elite is blindly following President Biden, who in turn is busy fighting for his political survival. That is precisely why Prime Minister Viktor Orbán proposed to the EU heads of state and government to take the initiative to play an active role in resolving the conflict before the US presidential elections in November.
