CHAIRMAN of Commission I of the House of Representatives Meutya Hafid strongly condemned the shooting of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. She emphasized that political violence has no place in society.

“Political violence in any form has no place in our society. We must dare to fight once morest all forms of violence that threaten democracy,” said Meutya in a written statement, Sunday (14/7) evening.

Meutya stated that this incident was a reminder for all parties to continue to respect the democratic system and differences of opinion.

“Continue to respect the democratic system and the existence of differences of opinion,” said Meutya.

The Golkar Party DPP Chair also expressed condolences to the victims of the shooting. “We express our condolences and deep sorrow to the victims, and hope that Donald Trump and the other victims recover soon,” said Meutya.

Trump was shot while giving a speech in Pennsylvania and was wounded in the ear.

The incident left at least three other victims, one dead and two injured.

The shooter also died at the scene. The shooter is believed to be a man in his 20s from Pennsylvania.

“He is a man, regarding 20 years old, and is from Pennsylvania,” Sky.com reported citing NBC News, Sunday, July 14, 2024.

The results of this identification were conveyed by five senior local law enforcement officials, although there has been no detailed explanation regarding the identity of the perpetrator. (Z-10)
