Last weekend, the Annual Convention of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) was held, where the boards of directors of the eight clubs agreed on several modifications for the 2024-2025 season.

One of the changes is the start date of the campaign. Last year, play ball was given on October 21, while in the upcoming competition, action starts on October 12, according to information from the league’s press department.

Another new feature is the number of imported players that each of the eight currencies will be able to count on. The quota for foreign players will be six, following previously being five.

At the meeting held in Cancun, Mexico, the topic of reinforcements for the postseason was also discussed. The five qualified teams will be able to make two additions (previously it was one) plus one substitution for the Round Robin, while for the final series they will be able to strengthen their roster with one more piece.

However, the regular round and playoff qualification format remains the same, including the wildcard series, where the clubs that finish fifth and sixth in the table face each other to determine the last spot in the next phase.

The LVBP board of directors had also previously announced that the 2024-2025 season would be played in honor of Víctor Davalillo, a Venezuelan baseball legend who passed away in December 2023.
