Edwin Curtidor has 24 years of experience in different positions in the Customs Office, according to SAT. (Photo, Prensa Libre: SAT).

Curtidor has been serving in the position on an interim basis, replacing Werner Ovalle, who was appointed Deputy Minister of the Interior this year.

The Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) reported that the swearing-in ceremony took place on Friday, July 12.

The official will be in charge of managing the model for control, facilitation and modernization in customs, as well as the plan to combat fraud and smuggling, it was added.

Curtidor is a career civil servant with more than 25 years of service in SAT in different positions.

The resume shared by the entity reveals that he is a Public Accountant and Auditor from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Administration and Tax Law, and a Higher Diploma in Customs Administration from the Universidad Galileo.

Among other academic studies, the INCAE Senior Management Course is mentioned, a closed curriculum in the Master’s Degree in Strategy, Security and Defense.

He has 24 years of experience in the Customs Office, having held positions as a professional specialized in customs, deputy administrator and administrator of Customs, professional advisor, supervisor of ex-post customs control, head of the Ex-post Customs Control Unit, Head of the Customs Intelligence Department and Temporary Technical Management Manager of the Customs Office.

He is currently Technical Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Regional Intelligence Office RILO Central America of the World Customs Organization WCO and Temporary Customs Superintendent, he has participated as Port Facility Protection Auditor in the different Ports of the country and is a titular representative of the 2024 Board of Directors of the National Port Commission.
