On Tuesday, the 14th István Gyulai Memorial Athletics Hungarian Grand Prix was held, where two excellent athletes of our county paid their respects to at the Székesfehérvár competition. Diána Lesti took part in the women’s long jump, while Zoltán Wahl took part in the men’s 200-meter flat run in a field full of world stars. At the Gyulai Memorial, only the European championship silver medalist Luca Kozák was absent among the Hungarian names.

Two athletes from Tatabánya were among the 26 Hungarian athletes – this was this year’s Gyulai Memorial
Diána Lesti was the first of the two competitors from Tatabánya to break the record in the city of kings. The two-time national indoor champion of TSC-Geotech finished ninth in the ten-person field with a height of 6.22 meters, so this year’s Gyulai was over for our 26-year-old athlete following three series.
The other two Hungarian competitors, Paris Olympian Petra Bánhidi-Farkas, finished eighth with 6.41 meters, while 2019 World Cup finalist Nguyen Anasztázia finished without a valid attempt. The long jumpers might be disturbed by the changing wind direction in each series. The only 17-year-old promise from Tatabánya, Rózsahegyi Wine he is currently recovering from his injury, so he might not start. The event was won by Natalia Linares from Colombia, who improved her personal best by one centimeter by reaching 6.87 meters.

In addition to international star sprinters, World and European Championship participant Zoltán Wahl was able to show his skills in illustrious company. Although the athlete from TSC-Geotech might not overtake anyone in the half-lap distance, he approached the American Daeqwan Butler by two hundredths with a great hair.
Anita Márton received her European Championship silver medal under solemn circumstances
Márton Anita, the world champion and Olympic bronze medalist shot putter who retired following last year’s World Championships in Budapest, can now officially call herself a two-time European Championship silver medalist, previously the original silver medalist Yevgenyija Kolodko of Russia was subsequently disqualified from the 2014 Continental Championships in Zurich due to a doping violation. Before the official opening, the only Hungarian athletics world champion received the European silver medal won in Switzerland in 2014 from Miklós Gyulai, the president of the Hungarian Athletics Association.
